Our core values unite and guide the actions of the Food Security Partners of Middle Tennessee.

We are:

Community

Our partnership represents and is comprised of individuals and groups from all segments of Middle Tennessee.

Inclusive

We are inclusive in our work and seek to bring to the table all people who share our vision of a food secure Middle Tennessee.

Respectful

We treat each other with mutual respect, openness and sensitivity, recognizing the importance of diversity.

We believe in:

Community Food Security

We believe that community food security is a condition in which all community members are able to consume a fresh, local, healthy diet through a sustainable food system that maximizes community self-reliance and social justice.

Sustainability

We believe that a sustainable food system is one in which everyone involved in the food chain, from the farmer to the consumer, is able to thrive without bringing harm to each other or to the environment.

Social Justice

We believe that all people should have the information and resources to obtain healthy food.

We choose action that is:

Opportunistic

We choose initiatives that are opportunistic in the best sense of the word, drawing on the strengths, interests, and resources of our community.

Collaborative

We believe that when we work together we become greater than the sum of our parts.

Holistic

We seek to catalyze and support initiatives which offer the greatest chance for holistic change in our food system, now and for the future of Middle Tennessee.
