Community Supported Agriculture CSA- a Community Supported Agriculture program allows members of the community to buy a share in the harvest of a local or regional farm. This allows you to not only support the local economy and learn where your food comes from, but provides the tools to establish a greater sense of community. You can subscribe to a share of a farm’s produce, by typically paying up front or in stages. Then receive a box of fresh produce each week throughout the growing season from a pickup site, which may be anywhere from a community center to the farm itself. CSA does not only supply vegetables, fruits and herbs, but also bread, milk and yogurt, eggs, cheeses, meats and honey. Through this process you can be reassured that you are getting fresh locally grown food. |
